In January 2007, the City of Greater Bendigo received worldwide recognition from UNICEF as Australia’s first Child Friendly City. There are heaps of activities on the council’s website, such as: Get Active, Explore the City, Get Creative, Back to Nature and What’s on in Bendigo.
There are other local organisations with activities especially for children:
Bendigo Art Gallery
Gallery Giggles – a morning of stories, songs and conversation all around art.
For children 5 years and under on the 1st Wednesday each month during school term. Mums, Dads and carers do need to stay and enjoy the fun.
Bendigo Family Nature Club
Every third Sunday of the month connect with our natural world guided by experienced naturalists with the Bendigo Family Nature Club. Presented in partnership with the Bendigo Sustainability Group and the Bendigo Field Naturalists. Registration essential.
Goldfields Libraries hosts a wide range of free children’s activities during the school term throughout the year, as well as special activities in the school holidays.

Curious Kids (for ages 3-5) is held at 11am on the first & third Monday of each month during school terms.
Open daily from 10am-4pm. (Closed Christmas Day and February).
Providing kids with an opportunity to participate in sports and physical activities before/after school and lunchtimes. Sports themed kids parties, holiday programs, specialised sports clinics. They even have programs for toddlers (2.5-3.5 years).
