Anti Poverty Week: Bendigo’s Big Night Out

This week is anti-poverty week. The aim of this week is to strengthen the understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty in Australia and around the world, to encourage action by individuals, communities, organisations and governments to address these problems.

Bendigo Foodshare have organised Bendigo’s Big Night Out which will take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Three Bendigo venues are running events to help to tackle poverty specifically in Central Victoria, through raising funds to provide food relief for those who are struggling. Organise a night with to catch up with friends and make a difference to poverty-stricken locals.

One Tree Hill Hotel
Corner of Spring Gully and Retreat Roads
Kick off on Thursday night, with Gold Coin Trivia at The One Tree Hill Hotel. The gold coin entry and proceeds from all drinks and meals enjoyed on the night will help to raise funds. Enjoy your pot and parma while wracking your brain for all those pointless facts you somehow remember.

Flight Bar
8 Centreway Arcade
Enjoy your Friday night at Flight, with Tom Harrington performing live and Bendigo Foodshare volunteers giving an insight into food poverty in Central Victoria. Proceeds from meals purchased will go straight to the cause. Go on, enjoy a delicious burger guilt-free!

Handle Bar
73 Mitchell Street
Saturday night, why not venture to Handle Bar? Kick back and have a few drinks while enjoying live entertainment from Chris DeAraugo followed by resident DJ MattR. Fifty percent of the money spent over the bar will go towards supplying meals for those in need.

Fact: With every $1 provided, Bendigo Food Share can provide 16 meals to those in need.
