Help celebrate National Volunteer Week and raise vital funds

The Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre is holding a Film Fundraiser on Thursday 23 May to celebrate their wonderful and diverse volunteers. Head to Star Cinema and settle in on the comfy couches with a glass of wine, for the first screening of the romantic comedy Gloria Bell – a great night out!

Established in 2002, the Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) is the lead not-for-profit volunteer agency across the Greater Bendigo region and builds vibrant resourceful communities through volunteering. The BVRC supports a number of community groups and organisations in the delivery of community events, training, education and projects. They connect volunteers to organisations that rely on volunteers for improved service delivery in the not-for-profit sectors, providing resources and support.

Last year, the BVRC provided support services to over 200 community organisations and supported almost 3500 individuals. Although the BVRC does receive some government funding, they also need to raise funds to support initiatives and continue training, connecting and supporting volunteers in the future.

As part of their fundraising activities, the team is presenting the first screening of Gloria Bell. After her divorce, Gloria (Julianne Moore) decides to live her life doing whatever her heart desires. When she meets Arnold (John Turturro) things turn serious much faster than she expected. She soon finds herself thrust into an unexpected new romance, filled with the joys of budding love and the complications of dating.

The funds raised on the night will assist the BVRC to continue the vital service it provides to our volunteers, organisations and overall community. The screening of Gloria Bell is the perfect opportunity to head to ‘the Star’, meet and support our local volunteers.
