If you’re a footy fan, especially a Pies or Eagles supporter, this Saturday is the most exciting day of the year… AFL Grand Final Day. Unfortunately, the weather in Central Victoria is forecast to be pretty average. With a maximum temperature of 15 degrees, we’re thinking we will be indoors for this one. So, we’ve found five places in Bendigo where you can soak up all the action of the big game, and have a beer or two.
The Foundry Hotel & Mister Bobs Sports Bar
366 High Street, Golden Square
These guys aren’t just watching the footy, they’re having a party! For $10 per person, you can enjoy a day of drink and cocktail specials, a pop up Mojito Bar, footy on the big screens (of course) and two bands to follow the game and keep the night rolling on. Bookings are advised.
The Queens Arms
25 Russell Street, Quarry Hill
Who doesn’t want to watch the Grand Final on Bendigo’s biggest TV wall?! With drink specials and the kitchen open all day, the QA is definitely a great option for watching the game. From 6pm, they’re hosting a Grand Final After Party with live music and even more drink specials.
The Cambrian Hotel
200 Arnold Street, Bendigo
Looking for somewhere a little more low key? The Cambrian is the place for you. With a huge projection screen in the bar, 100% Aussie beers on tap and a secure beer garden for the little ones to run around, this is a more relaxed, family friendly option and another great place to take in the game.
Manchester Arms Hotel
136 Eaglehawk Road, Bendigo
For $60 per person, you can enjoy Grand Final Day at The Manny with tap beer, house wine, soft drink and finger food provided during the game. An extra $10 will put you in the draw to win prizes for guessing the first goal of each quarter and the Norm Smith Medallist. After the siren there’s $5 drink specials, a knock knock battle and a DJ.
The One Tree Hill
Cnr Spring Gully & Retreat Roads, Spring Gully
Grand Final day at The Oney is another great option. They’re offering a Premiers Package for $80 per person, which includes house tap beer and wine, burger and chips and chef platters from 1pm to 5pm. After the game, kick back while listening to some live music, and enjoying $5 schooners, house wine and basic spirits. Bookings are essential.
Let us know if any more pubs come to mind and we’ll add them to our list. May the best team win!
