For the fourth instalment of the Women of Wit series, Bendigo will be graced with national comedy legend Claire Hooper. Her first big break was on Good News Week ten years ago and she has since become a regular on the lineup of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, along with her current projects as host of ABCs The Pineapple Project and co-host of The Great Australian Bake Off.

Headlining the event, Hooper will be joined by other established acts and some new faces, many performing in Bendigo for the first time. The lineup includes Urvi Majumdar (Sass Attack), Lisa-Skye (1900-Lisa-Skye), Sharon Andrews (2017 RAW National Comedy Finalist), Simone Amohanga (ABC Central Victoria), Sarah-Jane Fawcett (Bubble Bubble) and Annie Louey (Before I Forget).

The Women of Wit series started in Bendigo as a way to encourage women to take to the comedy stage. It has given great opportunity to local acts, but it has also become a great stage for touring comedians, with the likes of Kirsty Webeck, Sonia di Iorio, Alex Ward and Geraldine Hickey going on to television roles and bigger stages soon after their Bendigo shows.
